and skin infections. Silver sulfadiazine (silvadene) works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Silver sulfadiazine belongs to a class of drugs known as sulfa antibiotics. Possible SE may include: pain, burning, or itching of the treated skin. Skin and mucous membranes (such as the gums) may become blue/gray in color. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
