SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Labetalol. SN explained to patient / caregiver that Labetalol is an anti - hypertensive medication. SN explained that the side effects of this medication includes fatigue, weakness, anxiety, bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence or worsening of side effects.
Instructed on the importance, when taking Labetalol, of getting up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position, in order to reduce light-headedness and dizziness.
Instructed on the importance of taking Labetalol regularly, at the same time each day and as directed by MD, in order to get the most benefit from it.

Taught that Labetalol is to be taken by mouth, usually twice a day, either with or without food.
Taught that Labetalol slows the heartbeat, lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart.
Taught that Labetalol works by blocking the effect of certain natural chemicals on the heart and blood vessels.
Taught that Labetalol is used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
Instructed on the importance, when taking Labetalol, of do not stopping abruptly its intake as some conditions may become worse when this drug is suddenly stopped.
