SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Diovan. Explained that diovan is used to treat high
blood
pressure ( hypertension ) and heart failure. Explained that the high
blood
pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems and that this drug works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood
vessels, causing them to widen. SN explained to patient / caregiver that side effects of this medication includes dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, or blurred vision as your body adjusts to the medication. SN instructed that if any of these effects persist or worsen, to notify doctor immediately.
SN instructed patient that High
blood
pressure makes your heart work harder than it needed to before. Over the space of many years, this extra effort can lead to the heart muscle becoming thicker and less effective at pushing the blood
round. This allows fluid to build up in your lower legs and ankles, which causes them to swell up.
Instructed that High

pressure (hypertension) is a leading cause of kidney disease and kidney failure (end-stage renal disease). Hypertension can cause damage to the blood
vessels and filters in the kidney, making removal of waste from the body difficult. SN instructed patient about some measures aimed to managing & controlling hypertension, such as: eating low sodium diet , increase more fruits to increase your potassium, walk daily for 30 minutes, and have regular check-ups, as directed by Physician.
Patient was instructed on hypertension. People who have high
blood
pressure are encouraged to make lifestyle changes and stick with them for the rest of their life to reduce their blood
pressure. Lifestyle changes such as eating a low-fat diet, quitting smoking, and exercising will help reduce blood
pressure.
SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Metoprolol. Metoprolol is used for treating high
blood
pressure, heart pain, abnormal rhythms of the heart, and some neurologic conditions; it reduces the force of contraction of heart muscle and thereby lowers blood
pressure. Side effects to report to physician ( MD ) when taking Metoprolol including diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood
pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath or wheezing. If experiencing any of these side effects or when systolic BP is >160 or < 90 and / or diastolic BP is > 90 or < 60 notify physician ( MD )
SN instructed patient's CG about Quetiapine (Seroquel), it is an atypical antipsychotic approved for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and along with an antidepressant to treat major depressive disorder. Possible SE/AR may include, dry mouth, dizziness, headache, somnolence. Some common adverse effects, high
blood
pressure, orthostatic hypotension, high
pulse rate, high
blood
cholesterol, elevated serum triglycerides, abdominal pain, constipation, increased appetite, vomiting, among others.

SN instructed in possible adverse reactions to Lasix, including dehydration, orthostatic hypotension, loss of potassium and other electrolytes, weakness, and fatigue. Lasix is used to reduce extra fluid in the body (edema) caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. This drug is also used to treat high
blood
pressure. Lowering high
blood
pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Lasix is a "water pill" (diuretic) that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt.
