the hard enamel coating the teeth. Damage
from this acid increases the risk of tooth decay (cavities).
Sn explain that the joint pain can
affect one or more joints. The joint pain can
be caused by many types of injuries or conditions. It may be linked to arthritis, bursitis, and muscle pain. No matter what causes it, this can
be very bothersome. Some things that can
cause joint pain are: Autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus Bursitis Chondromalacia patellae Crystals in the joint: Gout ( especially found in the big toe ) and Calcium pyrophosphate deposition (CPPD ) ( pseudo gout ) Infections caused by a virusInjury, such as a fracture Osteoarthritis Osteomyelitis ( bone infection ), Septic arthritis ( joint infection ) Tendinitis Unusual exertion or overuse, including
strains or sprains.
Patient was instructed that diabetes can
damage
many parts of the body, including
the mouth and teeth. Diabetes increases the risk of gum disease, cavities and tooth loss, dry mouth and a variety of oral infections.
Patient was instructed on proper skin care after bathing. Do not put oils or creams between the toes. The extra moisture can
lead
to infection. Also don't soak the feet that can
dry the skin.
Patient was instructed on oral hygiene tips for seniors. Daily brushing and flossing of the natural teeth is essential to keep them in good health. Plaque can
build up quickly on the teeth of older adults, especially if oral hygiene is neglected, and lead
to tooth decay and gum disease. Brush at least twice a day with fluoride containing toothpaste. Floss at least once a day. Visit the dentist regularly for cleaning and examination.
Patient was instructed on symptoms of leg edema. If having leg edema feet and legs will initially appear swollen as the day progresses. After a period of time, however, the swelling will set in first thing in the morning and worsen throughout the day. Over time other symptoms will develop: High blood pressure, headaches, increased urination, palpitations, swollen hands and/or wrists, puffy eyes
, weight gain.
Patient was instructed on breathing methods. Breathe properly. Lie down on a rug or blanket on the floor with the legs straight and slightly apart, the toes pointed comfortably outwards, arms at the sides not touching the body, the palms up, and the eyes
closed. This is called a "relaxed body" position. Take time to relax the body and breathe freely.
Patient was instructed on what cause leg edema. It can
be caused by a serious condition of the kidney, heart, liver or blood vessels, but many other factors can
contribute to its onset, including
: abusing drugs, sodium retention, varicose veins and history of phlebitis, allergic reactions, neuromuscular disorders, trauma.
