SN instructed patient about Sensipar (cinacalcet) is an agent that increases the sensitivity of the parathyroid gland to calcium in the body. This causes a decrease in levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcium, and phosphorous in the body. Sensipar works best if you take it with food or shortly after eating a meal. Do not crush or break a Sensipar tablet. Swallow the pill whole. Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as numbness or tingly feeling around your mouth, fast or slow heart rate, muscle tightness or contraction, overactive reflexes, seizure, feeling short of breath, swelling, rapid weight gain, or feeling like you might pass out.
SN instructed patient about Xarelto (rivaroxaban) is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that prevents the formation of blood clots. Used to treat A-fib and lower the risk of a stroke from a blood clot. Side effects include bruising, itching, muscle pain, pain in arms or legs. Serious side effects include: urine that looks red, pink, or brown;headache, dizziness, weakness, feeling like you might pass out;bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.

It is also used to treat high blood pressure. It causes the kidneys to get rid of unneeded water and salt from the body into the urine. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: muscle cramps, weak.
Instructed patient about Losartan, it is used toTreat hypertension and reducing the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. Possible SE/AR may include, Diarrhea, Muscle cramps, Dizziness, Insomnia, Nasal congestion. Losartan also may cause: A persistent cough, an increase serum potassium and Impotence.
Patient was instructed about Taztia ( Diltiazem ), it belongs to a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels. It is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), and certain heart rhythm disorders. Possible SE/AR may include, dizziness. When you sit or lie down for a while, get up slowly to allow your body to adjust and minimize dizziness. Also may also experience bloating, heartburn, muscle cramps, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, sore throat, constipation or diarrhea. Inform your doctor if they become bothersome. Notify your doctor if you develop, breathing difficulties, swelling of the hands or feet, an irregular heartbeat.
SN instructed patient that Zocor( Simvastatin) may infrequently cause muscle problems , which can rarely lead to very serious conditions called rhabdomyolysis and autoimmune myopathy. Daily use of alcohol may increase your risk for liver problems, especially when combined with simvastatin.
SN instructed about Pantoprazole or Protonix , it is used for short-term treatment of erosion and ulceration of the esophagus caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease. Pantoprazole may also be used in combination with antibiotics to treat ulcers caused by helicobacter pylori. Possible side effect / adverse reaction may include, Infection: Stomach acid plays a role in killing ingested bacteria. Use of pantoprazole may increase the chance of developing infections such as pneumonia, particularly in hospitalized patients. Gastrointestinal: abdominal pain , diarrhea , flatulence. Neurologic: headache. Serious side effect : Gastrointestinal: atrophic gastritis, clostridium difficile diarrhea; Hematologic: thrombocytopenia; Immunologic: Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis; Musculoskeletal: Muscle disorders, bone fracture and infection, clostridium difficile infection, osteoporosis-related hip fracture, rhabdomyolysis; Renal: interstitial nephritis (rare), Nutrition: may reduce the absorption of important nutrients, vitamins and minerals, as well as medications.
SN instructed patient / caregiver that the combination preparation fluticasone/salmeterol (Advair diskus) is a formulation containing fluticasone propionate and salmeterol xinafoate, used in the management of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Commun side effect / adverse reaction may include: Body aches or pain, choking, congestion, dryness of the throat, high-pitched noise when breathing, hoarseness, runny nose, sneezing, trouble with swallowing, voice changes. Less common side effect / adverse reaction: Cough-producing mucus, flu-like symptoms, irritation or inflammation of the eye, muscle pain, pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones, sleep disorders, stuffy nose, white patches in the mouth or throat or on the tongue.
SN instructed patient that Vesicare (solifenacin) reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary tract. It is used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder, such as frequent or urgent urination, and incontinence ( urine leakage) . The most common side effect of solifenacin are dry mouth, blurred vision, and constipation. As all anticholinergics ,it may rarely cause hyperthermia due to decreased perspiration.
