SN instructed patient / caregiver that Hydralazine medication relaxes and expands blood vessels and is used to treat high blood pressure ( hypertension ). SN explained to patient / caregiver that side effects of this medication includes: dizziness, drowsiness, headache, constipation, loss of appetite, fatigue and nasal congestion may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. SN explained to patient / caregiver that to avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. SN instructed patient / caregiver to inform doctor if you develop: chest pain, muscle pain, swelling of the hands or feet, yellowing of the eyes / skin, joint pain, a change in the amount of urine. SN explained to patient / caregiver that this drug may cause numbness or tingling of the fingers and toes and that if this occurs, notify doctor. SN explained to patient / caregiver that symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing and should be reported immediately for prompt treatment.
SN instructed patient / caregiver that bumetanide ( trade names Bumex or Burinex ) is a loop diuretic to treat heart failure. It is often used in people in whom high doses of furosemide are ineffective. Instructed that is used to reduce extra fluid in the body ( edema ) caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease, and kidney disease. This can lessen symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen. Bumetanide is a “ water pill ” ( diuretic ) that causes you to make more urine. This helps your body get rid of extra water and salt. Dizziness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. Tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly, If this effect persists or worsens. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. It may cause a serious loss of body water ( dehydration ) and salt / minerals. Tell your doctor right away if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects such as: muscle cramps, weakness, unusual tiredness, confusion, severe dizziness, fainting, drowsiness, unusual dry mouth / thirst, nausea, vomiting, fast / irregular heartbeat, unusual decrease in the amount of urine.
Instructed in new medication Amitriptyline to manage depression. In additon, warned of possible S/E such as coma, seizures, hallucinations, delusions, disorientation, ataxia, tremor, peripheral neuropathy, anxiety, insomnia, restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, fatigue, headache, extrapyramidal reactions, MI, stroke, arrhythmias, heart block, orthostatic hypotension, tachycardia, ECG changes, hypertension, edema, blurred vision, tinnitus, mydriasis, increased intraocular pressure, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, epigastric distress, diarrhea, constipation, paralytic ileum, urine retention, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, eosinophilia, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, rash, urticaria, photosensitivity, diaphoresis and hypersensitivity reaction. Instructed to take full dose at bedtime but warned patient of possible morning orthostatic hypotension. Avoid alcohol during drug therapy. Consult MD before taking other medications. Avoid activities that require alertness and good psychomotor coordination until CNS effects of drug are known. Drowsiness and dizziness usually subside after a few weeks. Dry mouth may be relieved with sugarless hard candy or gum. Saliva substitutes may be needed. Instructed to use a sun block, wear protective clothing and avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight. To prevent photosensitivity reactions. Do not stop drug therapy abruptly.
Patient was instructed on how to react drug side effects: To lessen dizziness stands up slowly. Sit or lie down at the first sign of dizziness. Go up and down the stairs slowly.
Isorsobide mn may make you dizzy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. Avoid overheating which can aggravate dizziness. To minimize dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position to avoid falls.
Amlodipine is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina). SN instructs the patient about the new medication Amlodipine / Benaz may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when you get up suddenly from a lying or sitting position, if you feel dizzy, lie down so you do not faint. Then sit for a few moments before standing to prevent the dizziness from returning. If you faint, call your doctor right away.
SN instructed patient about Meclizine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body. It is used to treat or prevent nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It is also used to treat symptoms of vertigo (dizziness or spinning sensation) caused by disease that affects your inner ear. S/E include dry mouth, headache, vomiting, tired feeling and drowsiness.
SN instructed in new medication Apresoline ( Hydralazine ), its uses as a vasodilator to decrease BP and common side effects such as; Headache, anorexia, dizziness, hypotension, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, palpitations, tachycardia, angina pectoris. Patient was instructed on the signs and symptoms of hypotension that may happen in a few seconds or minutes of standing up after been sitting or lying down. It feel like fainting. Signs include: dizziness, blurry vision, confusion, weakness and nausea. Those symptoms go away if sitting or lying down for few minutes until the blood pressure adjusts to normal.
SN instructed patient and caregiver about Clonidine, it is used alone or with other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. Possible SE/AR may include: dizziness, lightheadedness, drowsiness, dry mouth, or constipation may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water, or use a saliva substitute. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: fainting, slow/irregular heartbeat, mental/mood changes like, irritability, depression.
Patient was instructed about Taztia ( Diltiazem ), it belongs to a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels. It is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), and certain heart rhythm disorders. Possible SE/AR may include, dizziness. When you sit or lie down for a while, get up slowly to allow your body to adjust and minimize dizziness. Also may also experience bloating, heartburn, muscle cramps, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, sore throat, constipation or diarrhea. Inform your doctor if they become bothersome. Notify your doctor if you develop, breathing difficulties, swelling of the hands or feet, an irregular heartbeat.
