Healthy diet Teaching 1938

SN instructed that a healthy diet is a major factor in reducing your risk of heart disease. A healthy diet and lifestyle can reduce your risk of heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke. Most fruits and vegetables are part of a heart-healthy diet. They are good sources of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Most are low in fat, calories, sodium, and cholesterol. Eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Choose whole grain foods (such as bread, cereal, crackers, and pasta) for at least half of your daily grain intake. Grain products provide fiber, vitamins, minerals, and complex carbohydrates. Eating too many grains, especially refined grain foods (such as white bread, pasta, and baked goods) can cause weight gain. Avoid high-fat baked goods such as butter rolls, cheese crackers, and croissants and cream sauces for pasta. Lean proteins, poultry, seafood, dried peas, lentils, nuts, and eggs are good sources of protein, B vitamins, iron, and other vitamins and minerals. Avoid foods with a lot of saturated fats including animal products such as butter, cheese, whole milk, ice cream, sour cream, lard, and fatty meats such as bacon.

SN instructed patient about some measures aimed to managing & controlling hypertension, such as: eating low sodium diet , increase more fruits to increase your potassium, walk daily for 30 minutes, and have regular check-ups, as directed by Physician.

Ibuprofen Teaching 1995

SN instructed that the ibuprofen at low doses it does not appear to increase the risk of myocardial infarction; however, at higher doses it may. It may result in worsened asthma. Like other NSAIDs it works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are fat-like molecules that are derived from the omega-6 fatty acid, arachidonic acid, which are involved in mediating inflammation, pain and fever. Cast care Teaching 2001

SN instructed that keeping your regular cast dry is very important! There are no devices that are 100% effective in keeping any cast dry. Sponge baths are the safest way to keep the cast dry. If you have to take a bath or shower, please follow these instructions: place a towel or washcloth around the upper portion of the cast. Cover the entire cast with 2 plastic bags ( use two in case one has a leak, secure the bag at the top with tape or a rubber band, if the cast gets moist, dry the top or bottom of the cast using a blow dryer. Use only the cool or low setting, if the cast is soaked all the way through, it needs to be changed ( call doctor office )

Colostomy care Teaching 2048

SN Instructed the patient about Colostomy Care and healthy eating. Healthy foods include: fruits, vegetables, whole - grain breads, low - fat dairy
 products, and lean meats. Do not eat foods that give you cramps or diarrhea.

Hyperlipidemia Teaching 2072

Sn instructed patient on managing hyperlipidemia means controlling cholesterol and triglycerides. Read food labels and choose foods with low cholesterol and saturated trans fat. For people who would benefit from lowering their cholesterol, the American Heart Association recommends aiming for a dietary pattern that limits saturated fat to 5 to 6 percent of daily calories and reduces the percent of calories from trans fat.

Levothyroxine Teaching 2099

SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Levothyroxine. SN taught patient / caregiver that Levothyroxine is a replacement for a hormone that is normally produced by the thyroid gland to regulate the body's energy and metabolism. SN explained that Levothyroxine is given when the thyroid does not produce enough of this hormone on its own. SN explained that Levothyroxine treats hypothyroidism ( low thyroid hormone ). SN explained that Levothyroxine is also used to treat / prevent goiter. SN taught patient / caregiver about the side effects of this medication such as headache, insomnia, nervous or irritable feeling, fever, hot flashes, sweating, changes in your menstrual periods, appetite changes and weight changes. SN Instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistent or worsening of side effects.

Hypotension Teaching 2116

SN instructed patient / caregiver to help with hypotension to drinking plenty of fluids, such as water or sports drinks that contain nutrients like sodium and potassium. Drinking little or no alcohol. Standing up slowly. Not crossing your legs while sitting. Slowly increasing the amount of time you sit up if you've been immobile for a long time because of a medical condition. The term "immobile" refers to not being able to move around very much. Eating small, low - carbohydrate meals if you have postprandial hypotension a form of orthostatic hypotension.

Diabetic diet Teaching 2121

SN instructed on a importance of a healthy diabetic diet high in fiber, but low in fat, and eating at a regular time throughout the day. A bowl of oatmeal a day can really bring down cholesterol. Follow a diet rich in healthy fats like vegetable oils and fish. And avoid foods high in saturated fats and trans fats.
