pressure. Explained that the side effects include edema, orthostatic hypotension, rash, itching, palpitation and nocturia. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing headache, dizziness or flushing.

sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Empagliflozin is also used to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, or death in people who have type 2 diabetes along with heart and blood
vessel disease.Taking medication(s), making lifestyle changes (e.g., diet, exercise, quitting smoking), and regularly checking your blood
sugar may help to manage your diabetes and improve your health.This medication may cause changes in your blood
sugar. You should know the symptoms of low and high
blood
sugar and what to do if you have these symptoms. Empagliflozin may cause side effects like urinating a lot, including at night, increased thirst. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

sample. Lancet or small needle -fits into lancing device, pricks finger, and provides small drop of blood
for glucose strip. Lancing device - pricks finger when button is pressed. Most devices have dials to select how deep the needle goes into the skin. Start with middle depth. If get more blood
than needed, dial the number down so the lancet does not go as deep. If get less blood
, dial the number up so lancet goes deeper. Alcohol wipes or soap and water - to clean fingers or other testing site.
Patient instructed uncontrollable risk factors for high
cholesterol are age, family history, and gender. Instructed risk factors that he can control are weight, diet, and activity. Instructed patient to maintain ideal weight, avoid foods high
in cholesterol and exercise for at least 30 minutes per day to lower risk of high
cholesterol. Patient verbalized understanding.
Instructed in new medication Pred Forte to manage inflammation of palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of globe. In addition, warned of possible S/E, such as, increased intraocular pressure, thinning of cornea, interference with corneal wound healing, increased susceptibility to viral or fungal corneal infections, corneal ulceration, discharge, discomfort, foreign body sensation, glaucoma exacerbation, cataracts, visual acuity and visual field defects, optic nerve damage with excessive or long-term use, systemic effects, and adrenal suppression with excessive or long-term use. Instructed to wash hands before and after installation and warned not to touch tip of dropper to eye or surrounding area. Apply light finger pressure on lacrimal sac for 1 minute after installation. On long-term therapy, have frequent tests of intraocular pressure. Instructed not to share drug, washcloths, or towels with family members, and notify MD if anyone develops same signs or symptoms. Stress importance of compliance with recommended therapy. Notify MD if improvement does not occur within several days or if pain, itching, or swelling of eye occurs. Instructed not to use leftover drug for new eye inflammation because serious problems may occur.
Patient was instructed on pressure ulcer also called decubitus or bed sore. A pressure ulcer is the results of damage caused by pressure over time causing an ischemia of underlying structures. Bony prominences are the most common sites and causes.
SN instructed patient about Latanoprost ophthalmic. This is used to treat glaucoma ( a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision ) and ocular hypertension ( a condition which causes increased pressure in the eye ). Latanoprost is in a class of medications called prostaglandin analogs. It lowers pressure in the eye by increasing the flow of natural eye fluids out of the eye. Nurse instructed more frequents side effects of latanoprost ( stinging, burning, itching, watering or swelling of the eye, redness of the eyelids irritation, dry eyes, among others ).
Patient was instructed on Hyperglycemia. To prevent high

sugar emergencies, treat infections early. Untreated infections (such as urinary tract infections, pneumonia, and skin infections) can increase the risk for a high
blood
sugar emergency.
SN instructed that Tradjenta is used with a proper diet and exercise program and possibly with other medications to control high
blood
sugar. It is used by people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high
blood
sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
