Patient was instructed on Osteoporosis. Healthy eating can actually help you lower your risk for disease. To prevent disease it is recommend eating lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat or nonfat dairy products and limiting foods high in salt, saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, and added sugar.

Do exercises that improve balance and coordination. Limit alcohol use that clearly increases the risk of falling.
Patient was instructed on Osteoporosis. If you eat a diet adequate in calcium and vitamin D and exercise regularly early in life and then continue with these healthy habits, you may be able to delay or avoid osteoporosis.
Patient was instructed on the optimization of wound environment. Adequate nutrition and hydration, remove nonviable tissue, maintain moisture balance, protect the wound and peri-wound skin, eliminate or minimize pain, cleanse, prevent and manage infection, control odor.
Patient was instructed on symptoms of leg edema. If having leg edema feet and legs will initially appear swollen as the day progresses. After a period of time, however, the swelling will set in first thing in the morning and worsen throughout the day. Over time other symptoms will develop: High blood pressure, headaches, increased urination, palpitations, swollen hands and/or wrists, puffy eyes, weight gain.

Patient was instructed that diabetes can damage many parts of the body, including the mouth and teeth. Diabetes increases the risk of gum disease, cavities and tooth loss, dry mouth and a variety of oral infections.
Patient was instructed on balance. With age, a combination of factors decreases balance. The nerve endings in our feet don't detect impulses as readily and the balance control centers in our brain and our ears operate more slowly. Age-related changes in vision and hearing, even when subtle, also contribute to the decline in balance.
