Instructed patient training for patients and their caregivers who
will be using the device at home should include how to: Recognize signs and symptoms of complications, such as redness,
warmth, and pain associated with possible infection Contact appropriate healthcare providers, especially in emergency
situations, respond to emergency
situations; for instance, if bright red blood is seen in the tubing or canister, to immediately stop NPWT, apply direct manual pressure to the dressing, and activate emergency
medical services.
Instructed patient and caregiver about the procedures followed in the case of a hurricane. Should such event occur the Home Health Agency will be on call assisting any patient who has an emergency

Patient with biliary catheter SN instructed patient when to call the doctor or go to emergency
: Active bleeding at the drain site that does not stop after you put finger, pressure on it, more pain or swelling at or around the drain site, your temperature is greater than 101 degrees fahrenheit, with or without chills
Ferrous sulfate 325 is used to treat iron deficiency anemia (a lack of red blood cells caused by having too little iron in the body). Get emergency
medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Instructed patient about when should you seek
immediate help? Call nurse or go to the emergency
room if: The area around where the catheter enters your skin looks red,
feels warm or painful, or it is oozing fluid. You see a red line going up your arm from the place where the catheter enters your
skin. Your arm will also be painful.
The patient was instructed to return to the emergency
department if: your JP drain breaks or comes out. You have cloudy yellow or brown drainage from your JP drain site, or the drainage smells bad.
SN instructed patient and care giver to call 911 anytime you think you may need emergency
care. For example, call if: Patient passed out (lost consciousness). patient have signs of severe bleeding, such as: A severe headache that is different from past headaches.
