tract infection, arthritis, arthralgia, myalgia, bronchitis, rash, infection, flu-like syndrome, and allergic reaction.
SN instructed patient and caregiver about Bactrim. Bactrim is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, including urinary
tract infections, ear infections, enteritis, pneumonia, traveler's diarrhea, and episodes of difficulty breathing in people with chronic bronchitis. Serious allergic reactions, such as skin rash, sore throat, fever, joint pain, cough, shortness of breath, paleness, or yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes. Low platelet levels that may be life-threatening, but usually go back to normal within a week of stopping treatment with Bactrim. Watery and bloody stools.
SN instructed patient / caregiver about Diphenhydramine( Benadryl). It is a first-generation antihistamine used to treat a number of conditions including allergic symptoms and itchiness, the common cold, insomnia, motion sickness, and extrapyramidal symptoms. It is a potent anticholinergic agent. This activity is responsible for multiples side effects such as: dry mouth and throat, increased heart rate, pupil dilation, urinary
retention, constipation, and, at high doses, hallucinations or delirium. Other side effects include motor impairment, flushed skin, blurred vision at near point owing to lack of accommodation, abnormal sensitivity to bright light (photophobia), sedation, difficulty concentrating, short-term memory loss, visual disturbances, irregular breathing, dizziness, irritability, itchy skin, confusion, increased body temperature, temporary erectile dysfunction, and excitability, and although it can be used to treat nausea, higher doses may cause vomiting. Report any Side effect / Adverse reaction to Physician / Nurse as needed.
SN instructed patient that Vesicare (solifenacin) reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and urinary
tract. It is used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder, such as frequent or urgent urination, and incontinence ( urine leakage) . The most common side effect of solifenacin are dry mouth, blurred vision, and constipation. As all anticholinergics ,it may rarely cause hyperthermia due to decreased perspiration.
SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Cephalexin. SN explained that Cephalexin is used to treat urinary
tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. SN explained that the side effects of this medication includes: diarrhea, dizziness, headache, indigestion, joint pain, stomach pain and tiredness. SN explained that the drug can also cause yellowing of the eyes or skin; red, blistered, swollen or peeling skin, unusual bruising or bleeding, decreased urination, severe cramps and confusion. SN instructed to notify physician if experiencing persistence or worsening of side effects.
SN instructed patient that Bactrim DS is an antibiotic used to treat Urinary
tract Infection ( UTI ). Instructed to use this medication for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Instructed the most common side effects have included nausea, vomiting, anorexia, rash, and urticaria. Instructed to notify physician ( MD ) of any side effects.

SN explained to patient that Diflucan is used to treat serious fungal or yeast infections, such as urinary
tract infections. It works by stopping the growth of Candida. It usually starts to work within one day, but it may take 3 days for your symptoms to improve and up to 7 days for your symptoms to disappear. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset/pain, headache, dizziness, or hair loss may occur while using Diflucan.
