Patient was educated about potassium 10 meq 1 tablet oral daily and it's side effects such as: confusion, restlessness, weakness, abdominal pain , diarrhea , flatulence , nausea , vomiting, and the importance to notified immediately nurse/ agency/ doctor/ 911 if any of this persist.

Patient/caregiver was educated about potassium 20 meq 1 tab po daily this medication was order to treat possible potassium depletion induced by furosemide action.

Instructed about diet as a major factor that can affect the stability of your Coumadin level. Explained about Vitamin K and its importance for blood to clot and why it's important in patients taking Coumadin, because high amounts of Vitamin K (e.g.green and leafy vegetables like lettuce, spinach and broccoli)can work against the drug. Instructed patient to eat what he normally eats just as long as he's consistent with his vitamin K foods. Verbalized understanding.
Instructed patient in new medication side effects ; the most common side effect is hot flashes (50% of patients) and facial flushing. Alcohol may worsen this reaction, and so it should be cautiously consumed. Other common side effects of the combination are diarrhea, constipation and overall pain including pain in the back, hips and stomach. Less common side effects are breast enlargement and breast pain, which may be due to the bicalutamide alone.
