This is a prescription medicine that belongs to a group of medicines called “beta blockers.” The most common side effects people taking Bystolic report are headache, fatigue ( tiredness ), dizziness ( if you feel dizzy, sit or lie down and tell your doctor right away ), diarrhea, nausea, insomnia ( difficulty falling or staying asleep ), chest pain, bradycardia ( slow heartbeat ), dyspnea ( shortness of breath ), rash, and peripheral edema ( leg swelling due to fluid retention ). Other possible side effects include masking ( hiding ) the symptoms of low blood sugar and hyperthyroidism ( overactive thyroid ), especially a fast heartbeat. SN instructed patient / caregiver that Aldactone is a potassium - sparing diuretic ( water pill ) that prevents the body from absorbing too much salt and keeps potassium levels from getting too low, treating congestive heart failure. SN instructed patient / caregiver to take Aldactone as prescribed by the doctor and do not use salt substitutes or low - sodium milk products that contain potassium, because it may increase potassium levels too much. SN explained that side effects may include mild nausea, dizziness, headache, gastric pain. SN instructed to report to physician ( MD ) if patient experiences an allergic reaction, numbness, muscle pain or weakness, irregular heartbeats, urinating less, shallow breathing or tremors.
SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Amikacin. SN explained that Amikacin is an anti - infective in the aminoglycoside family which is indicated as part of combination therapy for mycobacterium avium complex. SN explained that side effects include ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, apnea and hypersensitivity. SN instructed patient / caregiver that call your physician ( MD ) if you experience to signs of hypersensitivity, tinnitus ( ringing of the ears ), vertigo ( dizziness ), muscle weakness, twitching, feeling of fullness in the head or hearing loss.
SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Avandaryl. Explained that it is a medication indicated for Diabetes Mellitus ( DM ) type II to decrease the blood sugar by stimulating the production of insulin and increasing receptor site sensitivity. SN explained to patient / caregiver that the side effects include dizziness, photosensitivity, low blood sugar, constipation, nausea and vomiting. SN instructed patient / caregiver to monitor blood sugar daily and to not skip or double doses. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing unusual weight gain, swelling of ankles, drowsiness, dyspnea ( SOB ), muscle cramps, weakness, sore throat, rash, unusual bleeding or if bruising occurs.
SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Azor. Explained that azor is a medication used to lower blood pressure. Explained that it is a combination medication of Amlodipine and Olmesartan and it works by dilating the blood vessels causing a decrease in blood pressure. Explained that the side effects include edema, orthostatic hypotension, rash, itching, palpitation and nocturia. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing headache, dizziness or flushing.
SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Benicar. Explained that this medication is a blood pressure lowering medication. Explained that the side effects includes hypotension ( low blood pressure ), dizziness, fatigue, headache and /or diarrhea. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence or worsening of side effects.
SN instructed patient / caregiver that Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion and codeine is used to quiet to cough. SN instructed patient / caregiver to take as directed and with food if stomach upset occurs. Informed that drowsiness, constipation, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, dizziness or headache may occur the first several days the body adjusts to the medication, call physician ( MD ) if these effects continue or become bothersome or if developing skin rash, itching or rapid heart rate. SN instructed patient / caregiver to take the needed cough medication and stop when symptoms clear up.
SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Dilantin. Explained that Dilantin is an anticonvulsant and is used to control seizures. SN instructed patient / caregiver that the side effects of this medication includes headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia and nervousness, swelling of gums may also occur. SN instructed to call physician ( MD ) if patient experiences unusual eye movement, loss of coordination, slurred speech, confusion, blurred vision, or tingling of hands and feet. SN instructed patient / caregiver that blood draws are usually done regularly to make sure that the medication in the body is within therapeutic level.
SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Diovan. Explained that diovan is used to treat high blood pressure ( hypertension ) and heart failure. Explained that the high blood pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems and that this drug works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen. SN explained to patient / caregiver that side effects of this medication includes dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, or blurred vision as your body adjusts to the medication. SN instructed that if any of these effects persist or worsen, to notify doctor immediately.
SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Flomax. SN explained that Flomax is indicated for urinary retention such as the case in people who have prostate enlargement. SN explained that side effects of Flomax includes arthralgia, dizziness, flushing, headache, nausea and vomiting. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistent urinary retention and if experiencing the side effects of this medication persistently.
