Instructed in new medication Atorvastatin to reduce cholesterol levels. In addition, warned of possible S/E such as headache, asthenia, insomnia, peripheral edema, rhinitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, urinary tract infection, arthritis, arthralgia, myalgia, bronchitis, rash, infection, flu-like syndrome, and allergic reaction.
Instructed in new medication: Zocor, ordered to manage cholesterol levels and in S/E such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, etc.
Instructed in possible adverse reactions to Verapamil, including, dizziness, headache, fatigue, intermittent decrease in B/P and heart rate, nausea, and constipation.
Instructed patient on new medication Ciprofloxacin HCL, which is used to manage tract infection. In addition, warned of possible S/E, such as, headache, restlessness, tremor, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness, insomnia, depression, light-headedness, confusion, hallucinations, seizures, paresthesia, thrombophlebitis, edema, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain or discomfort, oral candidiasis, pseudomembranous colitis, dyspepsia, flatulence, constipation, crystalluria, interstitial nephritis, eosinophilia, leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, arthralgia, arthropathy, joint or back pain, joint inflammation, joint stiffness, tendon rupture, aching, neck or chest pain, rash, photosensitivity, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, exfoliative dermatitis, burning, pruritus, erythema, hyperpigmentation.
SN instructed patient and caregiver that Plavix is used to prevent heart attacks and strokes in persons with heart disease, recent stroke and/or blood circulation disease (peripheral vascular disease). Easy bleeding/bruising, stomach upset/pain, diarrhea, and constipation may occur.
Patient instructed on adverse effect of Zosyn such as pruritus, rash, constipation, insomnia, and agranulocytosis.
Instructed in new medication Zoloft to manage depression. In addition, warned of possible S/E such as headache, tremor, dizziness, insomnia, somnolence, paresthesia, hypoesthesia, fatigue, nervousness, anxiety, agitation, hypertonia, twitching, confusion, palpitations, chest pain, hot flashes, dry mouth, nausea, diarrhea, loose stools, dyspepsia, vomiting, constipation, thirst, flatulence, anorexia, abdominal pain, increased appetite, male sexual dysfunction, myalgia, rash, pruritus and diaphoresis.
Simvastatin is generally well-tolerated and side effects are rare. Minor side effects of Simvastatin include constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, heartburn, and headache.
Calcium supplementation also may lead to constipation, so patients should ingest adequate amounts of fiber
High levels of calcium can cause some adverse effects. Notify your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, stomach pain, thirst, dry mouth, increased urination. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
