Instructed on some signs/symptoms of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), such as: itching, changes in vision and weight loss.
Taught that following prescribed diabetic diet is a measure aimed to managing/controlling Diabetes Mellitus (DM).
Taught that having his/her blood sugar monitored daily is a measure aimed to managing/controlling Diabetes Mellitus (DM).
Taught that achieving and/or maintaining ideal weight is a measure aimed to managing/controlling Diabetes Mellitus (DM).
Patient was instructed on chronic wound healing. That may be compromised by coexisting underlying conditions, such as, venous valve backflow, peripheral vascular disease, uncontrolled edema and diabetes mellitus. It is important to remember that increased wound pain may be an indicator of wound complications that need treatment, and therefore practitioners may be constantly reassess the wound as well as the associated pain.
Instructed on some factors that may increase the risk of developing/exacerbating Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), such as: diabetes mellitus and a sedentary life-style, among others.
Patient was instructed that Diabetes Mellitus is a Syndrome in which insulin production is decreased or absent. Lack of insulin leads to elevated blood sugars.

Patient was instructed on diabetes. There are 2 types of diabetes. Type I diabetes, the pancreas stops making insulin altogether. Type II diabetes, the body still makes some insulin but it doesn't make enough, or the body can't use it properly.

But it is not enough to keep their blood sugar under control. Type II diabetes can often be controlled by weight loss, sensitive eating, and pills that improve the insulin supply or help it work better.
