The patient was advised in pain management in arthritis applying heat or cold to a painful joint for temporary relief avoiding temperatures extremes. The patient was recommended to maintain a regular exercise program that provides stretching and joint mobility. The patient was encouraged to coordinate pain medication with activities. The patient was recommended to use assistive and/or protective devices, as needed, to support affected joints. The patient was advised in the importance of maintaining a safe home environment to prevent falls (removal of small rugs, handrails in showers, tubs, or toilets etc. The patient was encouraged that eating well-balanced diet.
The patient was advised the importance of preventing respiratory infections by evading persons with infections to prevent atelectasis. The patient was instructed in coughing and deep breathing techniques. The patient was advised to use an incentive spirometer and how often to use it.
Instruct the patient to note the time of the first bowel movement after anorectal abscess, fistula, and fissure surgery if no bowel movement occurs or if constipation advances. Advised the patient to shave the perianal area weekly to keep hair out of the affected area. Advised the patient to sit on thick foam pillows or pads and to avoid air or rubber donuts because they spread the buttocks apart.
Taught the patient using heart models or diagrams the location of the aortic insufficiency and show the affected valve. Encouraged the patient the importance of avoiding strenuous activities. Advised the patient for frequent rest periods and avoid fatigue.
The patient was instructed in bone marrow transplantation in preventing complications like infection, bleeding, and stomatitis. The patient was advised to prevent infections in to wear mask when outside the in public, avoid contact with persons who may be infectious, avoid crowds, grocery stores, theaters, etc. The patient was taught in measures to prevent bleeding maintaining a safe environment, avoid using sharp objects etc. The patient was encouraged in prevent stomatitis maintaining a routine oral hygiene in the morning, after meals and at bedtime, avoid patient to use mouthwash containing alcohol.
Instruct the patient in the aplastic anemia and its causes. Encouraged the importance to avoiding contact to persons known to have serious infections, trauma, abrasions, and breakdown of the skin which could lead to infection. Encouraged that antibiotics must be taken for the entire period prescribed. Encouraged the need to maintain a well-balanced diet.
The patient was instructed in cholecystectomy specific care of the surgical incision and dressing changes. The patient was taught how to care for the T-tube and drainage bag. Laparoscopy, the patient was encouraged to increase mobility to reduce abdominal distention. Open Cholecystectomy, the patient was instructed avoid lifting > 10 pounds for the first 4 to 6 weeks.
