Common side effects of hydrocodone may include, nausea, vomiting, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fuzzy thinking, anxiety, abnormally happy or sad mood, dry throat, difficulty urinating, rash, itching, and narrowing of the pupils. Serious side effects include slowed or irregular breathing and chest tightness. Symptoms of hydrocodone overdose include narrowed or widened pupils, slow, shallow, or stopped breathing, slowed or stopped heartbeat, cold, clammy, or blue skin
, excessive sleepiness, loss of consciousness, seizures, or death. Hydrocodone can be habit-forming, causing physical and psychological dependence.
SN instructed caregiver that Amiodarone is a class of antiarrhythmic agent used for various types of cardiac dysrhythmias, both ventricular and atrial. Despite relatively common side-effects, it is used in arrhythmias that are otherwise difficult to treat with medication. The most serious reaction that is due to amiodarone is interstitial lung disease. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Corneal micro-deposits . Abnormal liver enzyme results. Much rarer are jaundice, hepatomegaly, and hepatitis. Low-dose amiodarone has been reported to cause pseudo-alcoholic cirrhosis. Long-term administration of amiodarone is associated with a light-sensitive blue-grey discoloration of the skin

rash, confusion, weakness, uneven heartbeat, trouble breathing, numbness or tingling in your hands, feet, or lips, dark urine or pale stools.
SN instructed patient / caregiver about Bethanechol. Sometimes given orally or subcutaneously to treat urinary retention resulting from general anesthetic, diabetic neuropathy of the bladder, or a side effect of antidepressants or to treat gastrointestinal atony (lack of muscular tone). Adverse reaction are rare following oral administration of Bethanechol, but are more common following subcutaneous injection. Adverse reactions are more likely to occur when dosage is increased. Adverse reactions that have been observed: Body as a Whole: malaise; Digestive: abdominal cramps or discomfort, colicky pain, nausea and belching, diarrhea, borborygmi, salivation; Renal: urinary urgency; Nervous System: headache; Cardiovascular: a fall in blood pressure with reflux tachycardia, vasomotor response; Skin

SN instructed patient about Flonase ( Fluticasone). It is used to treat asthma, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, various skin
disorders and Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. If taken correctly, the nasal spray and oral inhaler formulation have less corticosteroid side effects than the tablet formulation because they limit systemic absorption. However, if the spray or inhaler is used at higher than recommended doses or with other corticosteroids, serious side effects can occur. These systemic corticosteroid side effect include weakened immune system, increased risk of systemic infections, osteoporosis, and elevated pressure in the eyes. Nasal spray common side effects may include nasal irritation, HA, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, nosebleed, and cough. Rare side effects include painful white patches in nose or throat, sore throat, bruising , vision problems, swelling of face or neck, and difficulty breathing or swallowing.
SN instructed patient / caregiver about Methylprednisolone ( Medrol ), it is a corticosteroid used to treat severe allergies, arthritis, asthma, and skin
conditions. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor. Possible side effects, that may go away during treatment, include difficulty sleeping, mood changes, nervousness, increased appetite, or indigestion. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience swelling of feet or legs unusual weight gain black, tarry stools vomiting material that looks like coffee grounds severe nausea or vomiting changes in menstrual periods headache muscle weakness or prolonged sore throat, cold or fever. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. DO NOT stop taking this medicine without checking with your doctor. Stopping this medicine suddenly may cause serious side effects. Keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are using this medicine. Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. This medicine makes you more susceptible to illnesses, especially if you take it for an extended period of time. Prevent infection by avoiding contact with people who have colds or other infections. Report any injuries or signs of infection (fever, sore throat, pain during urination, or muscle aches) that occur during treatment and within 12 months after stopping this medicine.
SN instructed patient / caregiver that Actos is an antidiabetic med that is used to lower blood sugar. SN explained that it is important to not take medication when blood sugar is low. SN instructed to patient / caregiver to check blood sugar level before taking the medication to avoid hypoglycemia. SN instructed that side effects of the medication include: SOB, swelling or rapid weight gain, chest pain, N / V, jaundice, blurred vision, pale skin
, easy bruising. SN instructed patient / caregiver to inform physician if experiencing any of these side effect.
SN instructed patient / caregiver that Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion and codeine is used to quiet to cough. SN instructed patient / caregiver to take as directed and with food if stomach upset occurs. Informed that drowsiness, constipation, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, dizziness or headache may occur the first several days the body adjusts to the medication, call physician ( MD ) if these effects continue or become bothersome or if developing skin
rash, itching or rapid heart rate. SN instructed patient / caregiver to take the needed cough medication and stop when symptoms clear up.
SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Clonazepam. Explained that this medication is a benzodiazepines and it works to manage panic disorder as well as muscle convulsions and neuralgias. Explained that the side effects include behavioral changes, drowsiness, increased secretions, palpitations, constipation, ataxia and dependence. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if fever, clay colored stools, yellowing of skin
, or behavioral changes occur.
SN instructed patient / caregiver regarding medication Digoxin. Explained that Digoxin helps make the heart beat stronger and with a more regular rhythm to treat A - fib. Explained that the side effects may include mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and headache. SN instructed patient / caregiver to avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise, in hot weather or by not drinking enough fluids, because Digoxin overdose can occur more easily if dehydrated, and to call 911 if overdose is suspected. Explained that the overdose symptoms may include severe nausea, severe vomiting or diarrhea, loss of appetite, blurred vision, seeing halos around lights or objects, severe skin
rash, fast / slow or uneven heartbeats, and feeling like passing out. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistent side effects or adverse effects.
