SN instructed patient about the Restoril ( temazepam ) is a benzodiazepine. Temazepam affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with sleep problems ( insomnia ). Restoril is used to treat insomnia symptoms, such as trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Restoril works by slowing down the central nervous system ( brain ), causing drowsiness which helps patients fall asleep.

SN instructed patient that the medication's common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. SN Instructed patient to notify physician if any of these symptoms persist or worsen. Emphasized to patient the importance of completing the full course of the antibiotic regimen as prescribed to achieve the maximum therapeutic effect of the medication.

SN explained that Amikacin is an anti - infective in the aminoglycoside family which is indicated as part of combination therapy for mycobacterium avium complex. SN explained that side effects include ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, apnea and hypersensitivity. SN instructed patient / caregiver that call your physician ( MD ) if you experience to signs of hypersensitivity, tinnitus ( ringing of the ears ), vertigo ( dizziness ), muscle weakness, twitching, feeling of fullness in the head or hearing loss.

SN instructed patient / caregiver on medication Hydrochlorothiazide. SN explained to patient that Hydrochlorothiazide ( HCTZ ) is a medication indicated for edema and hypertension. SN explained to patient / caregiver that it is a diuretic that reduces fluid volume overload which, in turn, lowers blood pressure. Explained that side effects of this medication includes dizziness, dehydration, weakness, pancreatitis, anemia and nausea. SN instructed patient / caregiver to notify physician ( MD ) if experiencing persistence or worsening of side effects.

Denosumab Injection ( Xgeva ) Teaching 2118

SN instructed the use of Denosumab Injection ( Xgeva ) is used to treat osteoporosis a condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily in men and in women who have undergone menopause or who cannot take or did not respond to other medications for osteoporosis. Is also used to treat bone loss in men with prostate cancer and in women with breast cancer who are receiving certain treatments that increase their risk for fractures. In another cases is used to reduce fractures from certain types of cancer that began in another part of the body but has spread to the bones, is also used in adults and some adolescents to treat giant cell tumor of bone that cannot be treated with surgery or if surgery is not possible. Denosumab Injection ( Xgeva ) is in a class of medications called RANK ligand inhibitors. It works by decreasing bone breakdown and increasing bone strength and density .

Instructed patient that the most commonly reported side effects of Amlodipine (which is used to treat HTN) include: headache, edema, rash, fatigue, and dizziness. Check with MD or HH nurse if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome: acid or sour stomach, belching, heartburn, indigestion, lack or loss of strength, muscle cramps, sleepiness or unusual drowsiness, and stomach discomfort, upset, or pain.

Side effects include: swelling in hands, face and feet, increased hunger, muscle weakness and abdominal distention. One interaction of Prednisone is it may cause hypernatremia, hypokalemia, fluid retention, and elevation in blood pressure.

Instructed patient on Coenzyme Q10 which is used for heart problems. It has also been used for reducing the number of migraine headaches. Nausea, loss of appetite, upset stomach, or diarrhea may rarely occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your home health nurse or doctor promptly.

Instructed patient on isorsobide which is used to treat and prevent chest pain, side effects of isorsobide are headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea or vomiting. Headache is often a sign that this medication is working; treat it with an aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever as recommended by your doctor. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
