Medications
Instructed in S/E of oxygen therapy such as respiratory depression, collapse lung, irritation of airway mucosa, oxygen toxicity, local skin
irritation.
Instructed in new medication Synthroid and in S/E such as nervousness, insomnia, tremor, headache, fever, tachycardia, palpitations, arrhythmias, angina pectoris, cardiac arrest, diarrhea, vomiting, menstrual irregularities, weight loss, allergic skin
reactions, diaphoresis or heat intolerance.
Instructed in new medication Bactroban to manage wound care. In addition, warned of possible S/E such as headache, rhinitis, pharyngitis, burning or stinging with intranasal use, taste perversion, upper respiratory tract congestion, cough with intranasal use, burning pruritis, stinging, rash, pain, and erythema with topical use. Instructed to notify prescriber immediately if no improvement occurs in 3 to 5 days or if condition worsens. Advised not to use other nasal products with Bactroban. Warned patient about local adverse reactions related to drug use. Advised not to use cosmetics or other skin
products on treated area.
Instructed in possible adverse reactions to Persantine, including diarrhea headache, weakness, flushing, dizziness, drop in B/P, nausea, vomiting, and skin
rash. Instructed to take with meals if GI distress occurs and to watch for signs of bleeding.
Taught that Crestor may cause highly unlikely but very serious side effects, such as: yellowing eyes and skin
, dark urine, stomach/abdominal pain, severe nausea, vomiting and/or fatigue.
Instructed on the importance, when taking Hyzaar, of avoiding prolonged sun exposure, tanning booths or sunlamps, as this medication may make the skin
more sensitive to the sun.
Instructed on the importance, when taking Hyzaar, of using sunscreen and wearing protective clothing when outdoors as this medication may make the skin
more sensitive to the sun.
SN advised patient on some serious adverse effect of Lovenox such as: atrial fibrillation, heart failure, skin
necrosis, hemorrhage, intracranial hemorrhage, paraplegia, and pneumonia.
Major side effects of Simvastatin include abdominal pain or cramps, blurred vision, dizziness, easy bruising or bleeding, itching, muscle pain or cramps, rash, and yellowing of the skin
or eyes.
Patient instructed LOVENOX®, like all medications, may have side effects. The most common include
mild reactions or irritation, pain, bruising, and redness of the skin
where you have the injection.
