Instructed patient on the steps to follow to prevent a heart
attack or stroke by: maintaining proper cholesterol and triglyceride levels, exercise regularly, proper diet, keeping all MD appointments.
Instructed patient on possible complications linked to diabetes such as, kidney, bladder and heart
disorders, strokes, eye complications, peripheral vascular and nervous system disorders.
Patient was instructed on cardiovascular complications. Hyperglycemia (high blood glucose levels) can cause arteries to narrow and/or lose elasticity causing Atherosclerosis (CAD) where blockage occurs in the arteries that go to the heart
.
Taught that effectively controlling high blood sugar levels help prevent heart
disease, kidney disease and strokes, among others.
SN instructed patient and caregiver that exercise benefits people with diabetes and those at risk for diabetes by helping manage weight, by improving blood sugar levels, and by improving heart
health. For a person with diabetes, exercise is just as important as diet and medication.
