Patient was instructed on shortness of breath that make people feel like they can't take enough air, the chest
feel tight. Sometimes the feeling is worse when active or lying down flat. If experiencing other symptoms like cough, chest pain
or a fever tell the nurse or doctor.
Patient was instructed on breathing methods. Deep relaxed breathing. Lie down on a blanket or rug on the floor. Place one hand on the abdomen and one hand on the chest
. Inhale slowly and deeply through the nose into the abdomen to push up the hand as much as feels comfortable. The chest
should move only a little and only with the abdomen. Do it for five minutes, when becoming more comfortable with this technique extend it up two minutes.
